Joop Vreugdenhil was born in the Hague in 1904. Vreugdenhil was a student at the 'Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten' in the Hague under Henk Meijer. He enjoyed part of his education in France.
Between 1956 and 1962 he was a member of the 'Posthoorngroep' and 'Pulchri Studio'. Part of of the 'Nieuwe Haagse School'.
Initially figurative expresionism, from the sixties on more geometrical abstract work. Always looking for perfect balance and harmony between shapes and colours.
